Visit to Lake District or Cumbria: A Mesmerizing Experience

Brentwood (United Kingdom), 25 August: On 25th August it was a very cold day. As usual, we four of us got ready for our wonderful adventure of Lake District. Although there was chilling cold weather outside there was no dearth of hot water inside to take a bath.  Very difficult to describe the beauty of nature: Suri and Maruthi were wearing thermals. Me and Chetan just wore jackets on shirts. I thought a jacket would serve the purpose. Chetan drove to heaven-like places. It is very difficult to describe the beauty of nature.  Full of grass in every nook and corner: Since I am not a poet or a writer, I will try to explain whatever I see in my own words. Whichever side you happen to glance it was only green and green and the area was full of grass in every nook and corner. It appeared as if someone had very carefully trimmed the same just for us! Impossible to step in: The forests were so thick that it was impossible for anybody to step into them. I had never seen such ...

Kedarnath Havaldar Successfully Completes Forty-Day Tabla Practice!

Bengaluru: Well, strange it may look to hear also, but Kedarnath Havaldar has made it. He underwent what is termed as "Chilla", a forty-day tabla practice all alone. During this forty-day challenging period, he initially used to meet his guru for some days. But, after the 25th day, he remained all to himself and his favourite musical instrument tabla. Not only that, but while he continued to practice in the basement he never even met his wife staying on the first floor. Forty-day pursuit: Pt Dr Nagaraj Havaldar, father of Kedarnath Havaldar, proudly recalls his son's accomplishments: From July 8th morning to August 16th late evening, my son Kedarnath Havaldar was in solitude and soliloquy with his favourite passion Tabla. This forty-day tabla practice regime is known as Chilla. This forty-day pursuit was completed successfully by the blessings and guidance of his Guru Pandit Samira Chatterjee, Guruma Sanghamitra ji and Gurubhai Dibyarko Chatterjee ... ...The challenge ...

A Great Time On Windermere Lake And Boat Hopping Spree

Brentwood (United Kingdom), 24 August:  We had booked a caravan which is a complete house by itself. This caravan has a facility of three bedrooms with two beds in each room and a fully equipped kitchen. The kitchen is really amazing as it is provided with a gas stove (with four burners), utensils, spoons, forks, hot water,  room heaters and dry-kept toilets. Totally, I haven't seen anything like that so far. These caravans are connected to underground toilets and gas connections. Chetan, extremely innovative and a terrific cook:   We were fortunate to have Chetan with us because he is extremely innovative and a terrific cook. He is multi-talented and a very helpful human being. As I also cook both, vegetarian and non-vegetarian was like a support staff to Chetan. He would also wake us up with beautiful coffee in the cold mornings. The weather was too cold and breezy, yet Chetan would prepare breakfast and lunch for us.  Like a mother taking care of her children: He...

An In-depth Look At The Versatile Avocado

Introduction to the Avocado By Aishwarya Umesh Patil* Not a very common commercial crop in India: The avocado is a native of the tropical regions of the Americas, most likely deriving from many wild species in Mexico and Central America. Avocados, sometimes referred to as "butter fruit," are not a very common commercial crop in India. Originating in Sri Lanka, it was brought to India in the early 1900s and is currently grown in Sikkim, a Himalayan state in eastern India, as well as on a small, dispersed scale in southern and central India. But the frosts and scorching, dry winds of northern India do not suit the avocado plant. In terms of climate, it is grown in tropical or subtropical regions with summer rainfall and a humid subtropical environment. While frequently overlooked as only a component of guacamole (spread or dip originating in Mexico), it has become part of international cuisine as a dip, condiment, and salad ingredient. Avocados are a versatile and nutritious f...

Road Journey In UK: Not Even A Single Pothole Anywhere!

Brentwood (United Kingdom), 24 August: On   23rd August we came to the house of Prakruti, daughter of R Suri. The distance between Chetan's house and Prakruti's house is around 75 miles. Together with us, Chetan's wife Hema and their son also joined us on the trip to their home. Totally, it was a fully packed journey. We also carried all the ingredients for cooking, like Toordal, Rice, Chilly powder etc. Excellent roads all along: The Roads are excellent. We did not find even a single pothole or broken roads anywhere throughout the journey. People over here never throw any paper waste, plastics or food items like most of us do, back home in our country. Roads looked so refreshing as if everything was cleaned and washed just a while ago!  Driving Confusing and orderly: Apart from that, we found out that Chetan's driving was fantastic. However, for all three visitors from India, everything about driving on British soil looked confusing and orderly at the same time. Not...
