The Journey of Karnataka Cartoonists Association: A Legacy of Art and Expression

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Cartoonists Association (KCA) has played a pivotal role in nurturing and celebrating the art of cartooning in the state for over four decades. Established on November 1, 1977, the association began its journey to bring together like-minded artists and promote satire through visual art. Pioneering Years 1977–1980: The first significant milestone came in 1978 with the first Cartoonists' Conference in Udupi, where renowned artists MTV Acharya and R. Moorthy were honoured. Following this, workshops and exhibitions were held under the guidance of legends like R. Moorthy and R.M. Hadapad. In 1979, the second Cartoonists' Conference was held at the Kannada Sahitya Parishat in Bengaluru, graced by esteemed cartoonists like R.K. Laxman, Abu Abraham, and Mario Miranda, who were felicitated during the event. Miniature Form Of Landscape Drawings: A Highlight Of Prof Babu Jattakar's Artworks

Bengaluru: Prof Babu Jattakar, former Principal of the College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitra Kala Parishat recently held a one-man show at the University College of Visual Arts (Fine Arts) in Davanagere, apart from conducting a two-day workshop and lecture cum live demonstration. A one-man show of four artists: Interestingly, along with Prof Babu Jattakar, three other artists Prof Shashidhar M Lohar, former faculty member of the JSS-Halabhavi School of Art   Dharwad, Prof Shivanand K Pattar, faculty of the Government Fine Arts College Dharwad, and Prof Bheemarao K Badiger of Yogesh Chitrakala Maha Vidyalaya, Bidar also held one-man shows, workshops, lecture cum live demonstrations as well.
