Kannadigas in other states crave reservation in education and jobs

Kannadigas living in the neighbouring states continue to live a pathetic life despite repeated assurances from the concerned. Likewise, the successive state governments have continued to offer a deaf ear to their legitimate demands ever since the formation of states on a linguistic basis in 1956. This year is being celebrated as the Golden Jubilee year of renaming the state from Mysuru to Karnataka. But the problems, woes and demands look like never-ending perennial wounds for a lifetime and generations together. Adverse plight all over: The perplexed situation is by and large common to all those people with Kannada as their mother tongue living in Jath, Akkalkot, South Solapur of Maharashtra, Manjeshwara and Kasargod in Kerala, Mahabubnagar in Telangana and Rayadurga in Andhra Pradesh, Hosur, Krishnagiri, Talawadi, Niligiri, in Tamil Nadu and almost all towns and villages of Goa. These people have been living in these regions for generations and contributing in their own way to the d...

Nizam regime; Controversies Continue to Haunt

17th September every year is celebrated as Liberation Day to commemorate the end of Nizam regime and beginning of a new chapter in the form of democratic form of popular government. However, the claims, counter claims and controversies continue to remain till date. Nizam not a foreigner: Najaf Ali Khan, grandson of the last Nizam or Nizam VII contradicts the popular assumptions and says: "Liberation means liberating from foreign yoke or from foreign rulers. The Nizam was not a foreigner. Hence the question of liberation did not arise. It is equally incorrect to say that the monarchical rule of Nizam VII came to an end and ushered in democracy. They were no participation of the people and much less of politicians...  ...Day of Genocide: The wounds of Operation Polo (Police Action) are still deep and fresh. It is not a liberation day but the day of genocide, the implications of which can be felt even today. The horrible memories still hound the minds causing trauma to many poor ci...

KCR continues to remain the only option for the newly carved state Telangana

Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao popularly known as KCR has proved himself a powerful regional leader of the newly carved Telangana state by successively romping back to power for the second tenure as well. A founder of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, the regional political outfit floated by the strategist KCR continues to dominate the young state drubbing all other so called national parties at bay to the seat of power. A self made leader: Many a political commentator in fact had pooh-poohed the stance of KCR, when he quit from the ruling Telugu Desam party and stepping down from the position of Deputy Speaker of the undivided Andhra Pradesh Assembly with the dream of forming a separate Telangana state. Some of his political adversaries even went to the extent of predicting his political fortunes as well. However, true to his typical characteristic of a self made leader, KCR stood committed to his goal until it was ensured. Telangana devoid of opposition! Thanks to his prag...

TSTDC surges ahead despite Covid-19 Pandemic

By and large almost all states in the country complain of significant drop of revenue mobilization through tourism due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) has altogether a paradoxical experience during the same challenging period. B Manohar Rao, (FAC) Managing Director of the Telangana State Tourism Development claims that TSTDC continues to do good business despite the onslaught of the pandemic. In a telephonic interview with Hindusthan Samachar , he shared in detail the reasons for such a comfortable position. Excerpts from the interview: HS: How is the tourism situation in Telangana following the pandemic situation? B Manohar Rao: Let me introduce to you. I am B Manohar Rao, Managing Director Telangana StateTourism Development Corporation (TSTDC). I have been working in the same organization from 35 years. BJP springs surprise in Karnataka and Telangana while draws blank in AP, TN and Kerala

T he Bharatiya Janata Party has written new history in Karnataka , considered as the Gateway to South India by snatching 25 out of 28 Lok Sabha constituencies and managing to win from four seats in Telangana. However it has failed to register any win in either of the remaining South Indian states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Probably the biggest surprise for the saffron party today turned out to be Karnataka which bagged literally the whole state barring a mere two constituencies, one each to the Congress and JDS. The third seat was won by an Independent but supported by the BJP.Another noteworthy feature of today's results happened to be the total rout of veteran politicians and emergence of novices transforming out as new heroes on the political arena. HD Devegowda, former prime minister and Janata Dal Secular party supremo, Mallikarjun Kharge, leader of the Congress party group in the Lok Sabha, M Veerappa Moily, former chief minister and central minister, KH...

BJP can bet only in Karnataka in the whole of South to bag some seats

BJP can bet only in Karnataka in the whole of South to bag some seats     T he whole of South India gives altogether a diversely different picture in comparison to the overall political scenario prevailing in North India and elsewhere. In a way but for Karnataka almost all other states by and large hint at a situation giving an indication in favor to the local regional parties rather than the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at the Center. So for all practical purposes if at all the BJP has to rely upon for seats in the South it will only be from Karnataka. Thanks to the hitherto sworn enemies Janata Dal Secular-Indian National Congress joining hands to form a coalition government even the prospects of the saffron party are not that rosy as they used to appear earlier. image source jagran.com Telangana for TRS: Any numbers of freebies to the electorate have enabled the Telangana Rashtra Samithi President and state Chief Minister continuously for the second time, Kalva...
