Art Exhibition With Country Specific Themes

Bengaluru: The Podar International School in Kanakapura, recently organized its annual art exhibition to showcase the students' creativity through country-specific themes. The event evolved pivotal by giving a fillip to a variety of cultures by way of art, dance, and interactive activities. 

The exhibition was designed around eight countries: Brazil, China, India, Russia, Greece, Japan, Spain, and Mexico were the countries chosen for the exhibition. Each country was represented by different grade levels. Interestingly, all the participating classes prepared an impressive display of sorts, including cultural elements like wearing traditional attire, dance performances, art activities, and cuisine presentations.

Flag, Football and Carnival masks: In the Brazil-specific show, the participating kids of Grade 1 displayed the country's flag, and football in sports and the making of carnival masks as part of the art activity.

Costumes, chopstick challenge: The traditional Chinese costumes and flags were on display in the Chinese-specific section for Grade 2 children. The chopstick challenge literally proved to be a challenge for many of them in the interactive part while a selfie point turned out to be popular with the Chinese cultural props.

Traditional paper plate, Rangoli and decorations: For Grade 3, traditional paper plate, Rangoli and door decorations were the highlights. They also had festival-related activities to attract the crowd.

Matryoshka dolls and national costumes: Grade 4 students had arranged a display of the typical Matryoshka dolls and national costumes of Russia. Kokoshnik, the Russian headdresses and Matryoshka doll bookmarks also became a centre of attraction.

Parthenon models, Baklava and dance: Greek vases and Parthenon models were part of the decor for Grade 5 pupils. Greek delicacies like Baklava and Feta Cheese were the attractions of food display. Pin the Eye on the Cyclops game proved to be a fun engagement while the dance performances enthralled the audience. 

Origami crane-making: Grade 6 classmates dwelt with Origami crane-making to tell Sadako's story while the traditional kimono bookmarks and food-themed posters were the other activities. 

Paper plate masks: Paella and Churros, delicacies of Spain were on display by the Grade 7 students. Paper plate masks with the inspiration of Frida Kahlo were part of the art activity. 

Monuments, food and moustache game: Students of Grade 8 amused the gathering with a display of Mexican monuments and food art, not to forget nachos, tacos and guacamole. Pin the moustache game and traditional Mexican decorations were the other highlights. 

Painting galaxy of music recreated: The Raja Ravi Varma painting galaxy of music recreated through fashion show concept by Ranjith M, Art faculty and choreography by Paul Vincent, Anusha S, Runner Up Royal icon of Karnataka and Payal, 2nd Runner up of Royal icon of Karnataka Podar International school students Kanakapura 

Principal Fabian McDonald visits each classroom: Fabian McDonald, the Principal of Podar International School, Kanakapura took the time to visit all the classrooms. He leisurely interacted with the students patting them for their enthusiastic efforts. Fabian McDonald was also appreciative of the students for their dedication and creativity and emphasized that such events provide a holistic learning experience beyond the role of textbooks. 

Prof Babu Jattakar commends imaginative presentations: Prof Babu Jattakar, veteran artist and former Principal of the College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat graced the event as the chief guest. Prof. Babu Jattakar commended the students for their imaginative presentations and encouraged them to continue exploring art as a means of cultural expression. He emphasized the importance of art in education, highlighting how creativity fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of world cultures.

A memorable experience for all: The Art Exhibition 2024-25 was a grand success, drawing appreciation from parents, teachers, and students. It provided a platform for young minds to express their artistic talents while learning about global cultures. The event truly reflected the spirit of creativity and cross-cultural appreciation, making it a memorable experience for all.
