Brentwood (United Kingdom), 24 August: On 23rd August we came to the house of Prakruti, daughter of R Suri. The distance between Chetan's house and Prakruti's house is around 75 miles. Together with us, Chetan's wife Hema and their son also joined us on the trip to their home. Totally, it was a fully packed journey. We also carried all the ingredients for cooking, like Toordal, Rice, Chilly powder etc.
Excellent roads all along: The Roads are excellent. We did not find even a single pothole or broken roads anywhere throughout the journey. People over here never throw any paper waste, plastics or food items like most of us do, back home in our country. Roads looked so refreshing as if everything was cleaned and washed just a while ago!
Driving Confusing and orderly: Apart from that, we found out that Chetan's driving was fantastic. However, for all three visitors from India, everything about driving on British soil looked confusing and orderly at the same time. Not even once in our entire car tour did we come across anyone honking on the road. Every driver strictly adheres to the prescribed norms of travelling on the road, which I cannot even imagine in our country. We also never came across a single policeman on duty neither on the road nor within the city. People are always courteous, in the sense they express their gratitude whenever we give way for them.
A beautiful house with an environmentally friendly solar system: We came to Prakruti's house at around 01 PM. Prakruti and her husband Suresh Babu have a beautiful house with an environmentally friendly solar system. This solar setup ensures all the electric requirements of the house.
Foodstuffs were literally heavenly and a treat to our taste buds: They also have a beautiful and huge backyard with a pond which is full of fish and lots of fruit-bearing trees. Prakruti had prepared Mutton kurma, Egg rice, Thove, Rasam and Curd rice and to top it all were served with Italian beer. The lavish spread of a variety of foodstuffs was literally heavenly and a treat to our taste buds.
Sunshine until 08.30 PM: We left after an hour to the Lake District, which I will make a note of later. For having undergone a day-long journey, we retired for the day most comfortably. Before I forget, even at 08.30 PM, one can come across the sunshine here while you need to wait until 09 PM to see the darkness.
