Friends Rejoice As Dr Prakash G Tewari Takes Over As VC of KLE Technological Univeristy

Bengaluru:
Thursday 01 August was just like any other day for the 1976-77 SSLC Batch classmates' WhatsApp group of Basel Mission High School, Dharwad. Just around noon came the information of Dr Prakash G Tewari taking charge as the new Vice Chancellor of the KLE Technological University in Hubballi. The university is associated with the 102-year-old KLE Society headquartered in Belagavi. In no time the group became active with members greeting and congratulating Dr Prakash G Tewari on the astounding accomplishment.

Elevation, not a big surprise: Dr Prakash G Tewari's elevation to the position of Vice Chancellor was not a big surprise going by his stint, association, involvement and commitment to his alma mater. He has been with the B V Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering, initially as a student and later as a faculty, Principal and Dean from 1985 to date.

Quiz on the first day! Several of his classmates and friends have taken the time to share their reminisces. Here are some of them: Basavaraj Sugandhi opines: I came to BMHS much later in my 08th std, from St Joseph’s. Immediately, on my first day at school, was subjected to a quiz by AR (Anjan R Gadkar) and PG (PG Hiremath), the front benchers, whom I promptly named as terrible twins. Sitting quietly, also on the front bench, were another pair with quiet smiles DG (Deepak Gunavante) and PT (Prakash Tewari). This quartet from my class always had a hallow around them...

...The silent one: Among the quartet, PT was always the silent one. A trait he has carried all along his academic as well as professional career. A career whose crowning glory is when Vice Chancellorship comes knocking on his door. The quartet has come a long way, carving out an illustrious career for each of them...

...Sculpted many a promising career: PT, during his teaching tenure, has sculpted many a promising career. And now, as an administrator, is sure to guide this prestigious institution to greater heights. Our best wishes to PT and his Team @ KLE Tech, a glorious journey!

Major C S Anand felt: Dr PT, A "wow" moment for all of us! So proud of your achievement.

Anjan R Gadkar compliments in his own rustic loveable fashion:
Tewaryale, Hearty Congratulations !!!! Really it’s great news. You truly deserve this prestigious post. Very proud that my buddy from 5th standard will be called a VC of KLE. This is showered on you on the 77th Birthday of Prabhakar Kore...

...I still cherish the memories: I still cherish the memories of the days spent with you in your old home where we played cards and watched movies on ur Sinclair TV. My Best wishes to u in your new role.

Prof I T Shirkol: Congratulations on being vice chancellor of a prestigious university.

Ganesh G Sabhahit: Congratulations Prakash, you deserve this prestigious post. All the best

V A Yeligar: Oh great and hearty congratulations. Keep rocking.

Rajan Anvekar: Dear Tewarya, Hearty Congratulations on your accomplishment. Best wishes for your new role.

Anand R. Varahamurthy from California: Congratulations Dr Prakash Tewari. Although our acquaintance was for only 6 months in the latter half of 1974, I still recall you were very studious, sincere and honest and indeed you perfectly fit the bill of a VC which didn't come to you overnight. Your knowledge, your hard work, your passion for teaching and above all your self-discipline have elevated you to be where you are today. You have made yourself, your family, your parents and friends very, very proud. God bless you with all the strength, energy and enthusiasm to deliver whatever you have planned for the upliftment of the students, faculty and the institution to whom you served loyally which in itself is the ultimate sacrifice. I thank heavens for briefly coming in contact with you and thus I feel elated to be a friend of a VC. Have a blast, my dear friend. Good luck as a Vice Chancellor!

Satyendra G Savanur from Detroit: I am happy to hear this incredible news and achievements of Professor Prakash Tiwari. Thanks for updating me on the achievements of our dear friends!
Professor Tiwari is a shining star of inspiration for all of us!

Deepak Gunavante: Tewarya was not just a classmate but my closest buddy and we used to share the same bench in the school. We always used to hang out together, either at his place or mine. He is one of the sweetest people I know. He always gave his best in everything he did. I know he sacrificed not going to top colleges outside his home town Dharwad/Hubli for studies for the sake of his family. He’s a classic example of how talent shows up and shines. His achievements at KLE come as no surprise to me knowing his diligence and talent and he truly deserves this...

...The silent achiever: Hey Tewarya, what an accomplishment!  And so very well deserved. The silent achiever, as always. This goes on to show how invaluable you are in your profession. You’re truly a rock-star le. This is such a proud moment for us all. Heartiest congratulations Dost.

Vivek Hallur: " Prakash Tewari,( fondly call him Tewarya) as I know as a child, was a very disciplined, hardworking and studious student. Quite helpful to other students when it comes to helping fellow classmates with lending notes, explaining missed lessons, providing convenient seating places during events etc., In my opinion, the deciding authority has made the right choice for the position of VC in Mr. Prakash as he is honest, integrated and responsible. We, all classmates from Basel Mission Higher Secondary School wish best of luck in his new endeavour

Sunil Nadkarni, settled at Ankaleshwar of Bharuch district in Gujarat: Dr Prakash Tewari Vice Chancellor of KLE Technical University, wow, feel so proud of my childhood friend Tewrya who always came across as a silent, studious guy. He gave us the impression that he always had a liking for academics and proved that by going in for a Master's at  IIT Delhi and subsequently for a Doctorate. Wish him all the success in his new tenure as a VC.

Sujat Shetty from Dubai: I was in BMHS only for the IXth and Xth standards. But those two years were enough to have good interaction with all and memories of that short period continue to be cherished till date. Perhaps, it was a very good batch as we continue to remain in touch irrespective of wherever we are on earth. I still remember, at times bunking the classes and going to the movies during the school days. But, never ever Prakash joined us in such misadventures. That situation is self-explanatory to explain the studious attitude of Prakash and others in the front benches. Even after the school and college days, we are in constant touch with one another. A few years back Prakash couple visited us and we went around to visit some places.

A worthy recognition of talent: I remember the college days when the late Dr D M Nanjundappa was the Vice Chancellor of the Karnataka University in Dharwad. Once he took over, it was the end of all strikes for flimsy reasons including the postponement of annual examinations. On the other hand, he announced the timetable of all examinations well in advance, including the date of results. Just compare it with the NEET results fiasco and the thought-provoking action of Dr D M Nanjundappa, keeping the best interests and future of students in mind. Going by all such considerations the position of a VC is no joke and on the contrary, is a big challenge. One has the huge responsibility of taking the team and students together in the best interests of the institution. In that way, Prakash's elevation to the post of the VC is a ratification and recognition of his academic and administrative acumen and talent. Let there be no doubt that Prakash will do justice to the responsibility he has been entrusted with.

When Punjab Chief Minister's Son Was Paraded On Underwear

Year, 1959, Place Amritsar. Some Indian Army Officers & their wives went to the Railway Station to see off one of their colleagues. Some goons made lewd remarks against the women & tried to molest them. The Army Officers chased the goons who took shelter in a nearby Cinema Theatre. The matter was reported to Commanding Officer Col Jyothi Mohan Sen. On learning about the incident, the Col ordered the Cinema Hall to be surrounded by troops. All the goons were dragged out, the leader of the goons was so heady and drunk with power; he was none other than the son of Chief Minister of Punjab, Pratap Singh Kairon, a close associate of the then PM, Jawahar Lal Nehru. All the goons were stripped to their underwear, paraded in the streets of Amritsar & later interned in the Cantonment. The next day, the Chief Minister became furious & tried to release his son from Indian Army's incarceration. Do you know what happened? His vehicle was not allowed to go into the Cantonment a

Dr Godwin Shiri: An Accomplished Theologist, Author, Research Scholar and Social Scientist..

Dr Godwin Shiri as the name itself suggests is truly a Godly person who won the hearts of people all along and wherever he went across the globe. He is a well-read, widely travelled religious personality having contributed any number of books and translations of eminent philosophers. He is turning 79 today and looking back there seems to be a huge list of accomplishments worth cherishing on the way. Priest on his own inclination: Dr Godwin Shiri himself voluntarily opted for the priestly vocation of becoming a Pastor at a young age, much against the wishes of his family. The sight of the Cross of Lord Jesus Christ and the scenario of thousands of workers marching holding red flags in his native town Mangaluru had a lasting effect on him as a young boy. Recalling the good old days Godwin Shiri admits-"Perhaps they sowed in me the seeds of compassion and social justice". Nothing is Permanent in this World: Simon CM

Bengaluru: Simon CM spearheading the People Connected to Awareness (PCA) Trust has dedicated his available time to the welfare of society. He takes pleasure in making repeated attempts for the overall well-being of society without expecting anything in return. He has been aptly and wholeheartedly supported by his wife Rose Mary working as a Teacher and Arogya Mary, his 90-year-old mother. In an informal freewheeling chat, Simon CM took time to enlist the variety of social activities he has been into: People Connected to Awareness (PCA) Trust: I was perturbed at the injustices committed in society and atrocities of the rich on poor, the highhandedness of the haves on the have-nots and things like that. After much introspection and never-ending debate within myself, at one stage I concluded that nothing is permanent in this world. Although I plunged into social service in 2015, it was in 2017 that I completely dedicated myself to social service 24x7 with the not-for-profit organization
