A Visit to Museums and Galleries; Dream Come True

Brentwood(United Kingdom), 21 August:
We got ready and Chetan dropped us at the Brentwood station. He told us to take the tube train or Metro (what we call) to see the Museums and Galleries. We all dreamed of visiting the Victoria Albert Museum to see the original paintings and sculptures.

All shades of human race in one place:
We boarded the train and arrived at the South Kensington station which led to the Natural History Museum. There were a lot of tourists from all over the world to visit the museum. Practically you can witness all shades of the human race in one place. It was heavily crowded but there was utmost discipline even in a chaotic look-like scenario.

Unimaginable collection of metals:
The museum has unimaginable varieties of collection metals and assorted collections. After having a glance at the whole museum it is no wonder if you conclude that it is humanly impossible to think of a similar kind of facility back home in our country. Apart from the museums, the places also boast beautiful canteens and toilets which are equally very well maintained.

A memorable visit:
On the whole, the visit to the gallery was the most memorable one. After coming out of the Natural Heritage Museum, we had 'Piliyogare' rice beautifully prepared by Mrs Hemavathi, Chetan's wife. The reason for Mrs Hemavathi taking pains to pack us the food was, that the food available there is quite expensive apart from not suiting our taste buds.

Victoria Albert Museum:
After completing our meals we went to the Victoria Albert Museum. In a way, this place was more closer to our hearts. Our dream of visiting the Museum was not only coming true but came true.

Dumbstruck at the collection:
We were dumbstruck by the collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints. In a way, it is very time-consuming demanding a lot of attention to go through every work in minute detail. If you were to go through the museum thoroughly it may take a minimum of one week. We were tired and took a break to take snaps with Michelangelo and other internationally acclaimed art personalities.

Thought to come back again:
We decided that we would like to come back again as we were not able to finish seeing even one-fourth of the works on display in the museum. Exiting the gallery we went to the tube station or what we call the Metro station, back home.

No tickets to return!
As we had not bought the return ticket we had to purchase the tickets to return. Unfortunately for us, there were no ticket counters like the ones we have back home in India. However, there were computers installed in the station to buy the same.

Lady tries to help in vain:
Thanks to the lady security personnel who was very cooperative and gave it a try to help us in vain as the system wasn't functional. She suggested that we go to Liverpool station and buy the tickets to Brentwood, from there, which made me nervous about being caught by the ticket-checking person. Luckily, nothing of that sort happened and we were able to reach Liverpool without any hassle.

A tiring and fulfilling day:
From there we bought tickets to Brentwood as suggested. At last, we arrived in Brentwood, where Chetan was already there to pick us back to his house. It was both, a tiring and at the same time a fulfilling day indeed.

When Punjab Chief Minister's Son Was Paraded On Underwear

Year, 1959, Place Amritsar. Some Indian Army Officers & their wives went to the Railway Station to see off one of their colleagues. Some goons made lewd remarks against the women & tried to molest them. The Army Officers chased the goons who took shelter in a nearby Cinema Theatre. The matter was reported to Commanding Officer Col Jyothi Mohan Sen. On learning about the incident, the Col ordered the Cinema Hall to be surrounded by troops. All the goons were dragged out, the leader of the goons was so heady and drunk with power; he was none other than the son of Chief Minister of Punjab, Pratap Singh Kairon, a close associate of the then PM, Jawahar Lal Nehru. All the goons were stripped to their underwear, paraded in the streets of Amritsar & later interned in the Cantonment. The next day, the Chief Minister became furious & tried to release his son from Indian Army's incarceration. Do you know what happened? His vehicle was not allowed to go into the Cantonment a

Dr Godwin Shiri: An Accomplished Theologist, Author, Research Scholar and Social Scientist..

Dr Godwin Shiri as the name itself suggests is truly a Godly person who won the hearts of people all along and wherever he went across the globe. He is a well-read, widely travelled religious personality having contributed any number of books and translations of eminent philosophers. He is turning 79 today and looking back there seems to be a huge list of accomplishments worth cherishing on the way. Priest on his own inclination: Dr Godwin Shiri himself voluntarily opted for the priestly vocation of becoming a Pastor at a young age, much against the wishes of his family. The sight of the Cross of Lord Jesus Christ and the scenario of thousands of workers marching holding red flags in his native town Mangaluru had a lasting effect on him as a young boy. Recalling the good old days Godwin Shiri admits-"Perhaps they sowed in me the seeds of compassion and social justice". Nothing is Permanent in this World: Simon CM

Bengaluru: Simon CM spearheading the People Connected to Awareness (PCA) Trust has dedicated his available time to the welfare of society. He takes pleasure in making repeated attempts for the overall well-being of society without expecting anything in return. He has been aptly and wholeheartedly supported by his wife Rose Mary working as a Teacher and Arogya Mary, his 90-year-old mother. In an informal freewheeling chat, Simon CM took time to enlist the variety of social activities he has been into: People Connected to Awareness (PCA) Trust: I was perturbed at the injustices committed in society and atrocities of the rich on poor, the highhandedness of the haves on the have-nots and things like that. After much introspection and never-ending debate within myself, at one stage I concluded that nothing is permanent in this world. Although I plunged into social service in 2015, it was in 2017 that I completely dedicated myself to social service 24x7 with the not-for-profit organization
