Black fungus, the new scare and of late the most debated problem is nothing else but a by-product of extinct social consciousness, exclaims Dr Deepak V. Haldipur, renowned ENT specialist widely revered for his expertise in handling Black fungus cases.

An alumnus of the reputed Bengaluru Medical College, Dr Deepak V. Haldipur is an internationally renowned ENT surgeon with more than three decades of experience in the field of Otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgery. He holds the unique distinction of having handled the highest number of Black fungus cases in Karnataka.
He is one of the foremost Indian ENT surgeons to master excellence in skull surgeries, both endoscopic anterior and lateral skull base. He is also a mentor surgeon for the Cochlear implant program for various institutions and hospitals.
While an attempt was made to admit of me being an illiterate as far as the medical subject was concerned, he shot back: Yes, I am also an illiterate but for having some degrees!
Talking at length about the canards being spread about Black fungus, Dr Deepak V. Haldipur blasted the media for the negative campaign being let leashed at. Around 250-300 cases in the state boasting of a population to the extent of 6.5 crores is not something alarming to panic about, he pointed out.
Two factors are confirmed. One, it’s already in the air and mutated Covid-19 virus are the culprits. Let’s assume you have maintained your house at the most hygienic level possible. But suddenly you develop a cold and happen to sneeze mucus on the ground. In no time you can observe ants surrounding the mucus from nowhere? In the same way, a healthy-looking stray dog gets injured and flies keep grouping the wounded part. These instances are indicators of losing immunity levels, he explains.
Due to the mutated Covid-19 virus nasal immunity level is dropping. Earlier also we were treating Black fungus patients with diabetic problems. Then people who had blood sugar levels up to 400 came to normal within one and a half-day. But now sugar level is not coming down even after 10-12 days. This is the big difference we are experiencing between the Covid-19 virus last year and the mutated ones now, says Dr Deepak V. Haldipur.
Self-medication is coming in the way of early diagnosis. People for having developed some mild symptoms are following prescriptions suggested to a family member earlier, without getting tested. Earlier we generally inhaled hot water putting a few drops of Eucalyptus oil for cold and cough. But now this practice has gone out of control. If we start inhaling steam 6-7 times a day, where from can one hope for retaining nasal immunity, he wonders.
He is candid enough in mentioning: The purpose of a lockdown is to remain indoors, do exercises and indulge in self-introspection. There is no need to keep watching TV news the whole day as this pandemic is also a result of 70 per cent of psychology and 30 per cent due to medical reasons……People should wear a mask, maintain social distance and practice sanitizing apart from getting vaccinated. KP Poornachandra Tejasvi had written way back in 1983 in Lankesh Patrike: “If we continue to plunder the environment in the same way, a day may not be far off when we will be compelled to drink water from the bottles”. He has been proved right, exclaimed Dr Deepak V. Haldipur.
He lambasted the "societal behaviour and terrorist media outlets" for the present crisis. The present problems are our own making and we ourselves have to rise to the occasion to overcome them, he signed off.

I have been occassionally reading articles from this page. The articles are top notch,no doubt.I have a suggestion that you could add some affiliate related links the way other e- newspapers do.Its better if you can use Info graphics, (*simply giving credits if you use others). This technique could make your articles a bit more informative and attractive..
